Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 14, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the HachiCode mobile application ("HachiCode", the "App", "we", "us", or "our"), operated by Li Yi, handles information. HachiCode is built to be local-first: your work stays on your device and goes only where you send it. We collect as little as possible.
Summary
- We do not collect your source code, files, or repository contents.
- The credentials you enter (SSH keys, access tokens, passwords) are stored on your device and are not sent to us.
- Purchases are handled by Apple; we never receive your payment card details.
- Diagnostic error reporting is opt-in and designed to exclude your code and repository names.
Information we handle
Your Content and credentials (stored on your device, not collected by us). The files you edit, the git repositories you work with, and the credentials you enter are stored locally on your device. Secrets such as SSH private keys and access tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain. This information is transmitted only to the git remotes and servers you choose to connect to, over the connections you configure. We do not receive it.
Device identifier. The App generates a random identifier that is stored in your device's Keychain. It is used to attribute diagnostic reports and app-health telemetry to a device so we can investigate issues. It is not linked to your name or Apple Account, and we do not use it to track you across other apps or websites or sell it.
Purchases. Subscriptions and purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. The App reads your subscription entitlement status from Apple's on-device StoreKit framework to unlock paid features. We do not receive or store your payment card number or billing details.
Diagnostics and error reports (opt-in). If you enable error reporting in Settings, the App may send information about errors and crashes — such as error messages, error codes, and basic device/app version information — to our backend service so we can diagnose and fix problems. These reports are designed to exclude your source code and to avoid including repository names or file paths that could reveal them. You can turn error reporting off at any time in Settings; when it is off, this information stays on your device.
How we use information
We use the limited information above to: operate and secure the App; deliver and verify the paid features you purchase; and diagnose and fix bugs and crashes. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it.
How information is stored and shared
Information stays on your device except for opt-in diagnostics and the associated device identifier, which are sent to our backend service. That service runs on third-party cloud infrastructure (currently Google Cloud Platform), which processes the data on our behalf as a service provider.
We otherwise share information only: with Apple, for App Store distribution and purchases, under Apple's Privacy Policy; or where required by law. Git remotes and servers you connect to are operated by others and governed by their own policies.
Data retention
Locally stored information remains on your device until you delete it or remove the App. Diagnostic reports are retained only as long as needed to investigate and fix issues, and are then deleted or aggregated.
Your choices and rights
- Diagnostics. Turn error reporting on or off in Settings at any time.
- Local data. Deleting the App removes the Content, credentials, and identifiers stored on your device.
- Access and deletion. Depending on where you live (for example, under GDPR or the CCPA), you may have rights to access or delete personal data we hold. Contact us to make a request.
Children
HachiCode is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
